Hello, my name is Nancy Valdivia, and I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I have a masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Cal State Northridge (CSUN). I have always had a passion for helping people. After my masters, I decided to branch out into Higher Ed. I interned at CSUN in the disabilities office helping students through career exploration, while I was getting a certificate in College Counseling and Student Services. It was through working at CSUN that I fell in love with working with students with disabilities. I had many roles such as: program coordinator, disability management counselor and career counselor. After having my baby, I decided to take a break and take care of him. As he grew of age and started attending school, I decided to go back to the workforce and continue my passion in working with students. I found another home, now Cal Poly and I am so excited to be apart of the DRC team!!!

In my spare time I love to spend time with my family. We love doing outdoor adventures. I am also very passionate about self-care. I love self-help books and spend a lot of time journaling and meditating as a way to stay mentally healthy. My biggest goal is to raise my son to have great coping skills to be a better person in this world.
