I'm originally from New York but grew up all over the US and as a result I have a knack for picking up on people's regional accents.  In the past 30 years I happily made San Diego my home.  I am an alumnus of SDSU where I earned both my bachelor's and master's degree in counseling with a PPS Credential.  While I enjoyed working with K-12 students, I found early in my career that my passion was working with college students. The past 20 years I have worked with students with disabilities in higher education in both small private schools as well as large public universities.  I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with students both in person and fully remote.  I am excited in my role at Cal Poly to be serving students remotely.  I value learning and have recently focused my professional development to the area of disability culture and identity.

When I'm not working, I love spending time with my family (my spouse, 2 boys, our dog Griff and cat Sugar) and friends.  The Perez fam are all foodies and love trying out new local restaurants.  I also enjoying hiking, music, reading, paddle boarding and going to the beach.

I'm so grateful to be a part of this amazing DRC team and the Cal Poly community.
