Lori Waters smilingAbout Lori

As a mother of two teenage daughters with disabilities, I am passionate about empowering students and assisting them in finding the right accommodations to facilitate academic success.  I have spent the last 10 years serving as an advocate for parents and their students in the K-12 system.  I have extensive experience working with assistive technology and have seen firsthand the amazing success that comes from finding the right accommodations for a student.

I’m thrilled to now serve Cal Poly students as an Access Specialist.  I look forward to getting to know students and assisting you in reaching your educational goals.  For the last 4 years, I’ve been providing real time transcription for deaf and hard of hearing students here at Cal Poly.

I originally hail from the beautiful, rainy Pacific Northwest where I started my work in higher education disability resources at Western Washington University.  I live near the beach now as the fog reminds me of my native Washington state.  I live with my husband Caleb, our two daughters, two rescue cats, and our beloved beagle Lily.   I’m a huge music lover and love finding a new artist or band that has a truly unique sound.  I also enjoy video games and frequenting the Palm Theatre.
