I am a native of Oklahoma but don’t hold the Tiger King against me... Oklahoma is nice, and I do miss the seasons, however after high school I moved out to Southern California to attend California State University Long Beach and graduated with a B.S. in Marine Biology, specializing in Orca studies. I spent time in Friday Harbor, Washington studying the J, K, and L pods of the Southern Resident orca population there and fell in love. Then, I ended up filling in for a teacher one semester and fell in love with teaching. I spent several years teaching in the Special Education field and eventually settled into teaching Jr. And Sr. High school science. I have been passionate about working with youth my whole life, and love helping people. My father is a Pastor, so I have been working in nurseries and working with youth groups most of my life.
In my spare time, I love to sing and play music. I currently sing and play keyboards for a classic rock band out of Ventura called Rhythm 805. We were voted best in Ventura County recently so that was awesome! I also love animals, and anything ocean. I have an amazing, wonderful, loving son who attends California State University Dominguez Hills with hopes to become a math professor. I have always been impressed with Cal Poly, and feel blessed to be a part of such a caring, dedicated and loving team here at the DRC. Our DRC is truly special, and I am grateful to be here.
